St. Nicholas Alumni Win Big at End of Year Awards Ceremonies

Our alumni have been making waves throughout the 2023-2024 school year. Several of our alumni were recognized for their hard work and achievements in arts, athletics, academics, and simply being good stewards. See below for our award winners.

Baylor School:

Ash Brown '17: The Michelle Kadrie Award

Given to a senior who combines a strong desire to do their personal best in school activities with a caring attitude toward others.

James McCorkle '19: BSA Eagle Award

Will be granted this award for enhancing Baylor’s campus while completing his Eagle Scout project of planning, cutting, building, and staining three tables and a podium for Baylor faculty and students to use as an outdoor classroom on the patio of Academic!

Kathan Thomas '21: Orchestra Award

McCallie School:

Niyam Tejani '21: Mathematical Achievement Award

Girls Preparatory School:

Frances Bohner '18 and Alex Brumley '19: All State Swimming

Frances received this award in the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay. Alex received this award for 1 Meter Diving.

Alex Brumley ’19: Elizabeth Collier Farmer Award

This award is presented to a sophomore who best exemplifies the athletic standards set by Elizabeth Collier Farmer ’89 during her years at GPS. She is active in athletics year-round and is a team leader who strives to achieve the best from herself and her teammates.

Juanitta Garcia ’17: Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts

The Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts is given to an outstanding senior art student who has displayed an exceptional dedication and diligence toward her artistry. She is a leader among her peers, exhibits a love of learning and curiosity, and has achieved the high standards required by the AP Art curriculum. Her pursuit of visual art expression was bolstered with independence and self-motivation.

Ella Harris ’17: The Award for Excellence in Technical Theatre

The Award for Excellence in Technical Theatre honors a girl who displays laser sharp focus and attention to detail, is committed to all aspects of technical theater, and she has the presence of mind to make wise decisions at the drop of a hat. 

Ella Harris ’17: Ethel B. Poston Valedictorian Award

The Ethel B. Poston Valedictorian Award is presented to the senior or seniors who have maintained the highest grade average during her four years in Upper School.

Ella Harris ’17: Founders Award 

The Founders Award is given to a senior whose character and integrity have had a most wholesome influence on the GPS community. Nominations are made by seniors and faculty and, from the nominees, the recipient is selected by Head of School and Head of Upper School.

Gracie Pritchett ’17: Robinson Sportsmanship Cup

The Robinson Sportsmanship Cup, awarded for the first time in 1949 by Justine and Grace Robinson, is presented to the athlete who, in the eyes of her teammates, best exemplifies good sportsmanship.

Claire Scotchie ’17: Mary Hannah Tucker Faculty Award

The Mary Hannah Tucker Award is presented to a senior who has given her best as a student, as a friend and as a leader—a girl who lifts the spirits of those around her and consistently stands for right and fair play. Nominations are made by seniors and faculty and, from the nominees, the recipient is selected by Head of School and Head of Upper School.
