ABOUT
Where the Love of Learning Takes Root
Nestled on 24 scenic acres in Chattanooga’s East Brainerd neighborhood, St. Nicholas School is an independent Episcopal school dedicated to nurturing young learners from preschool through 5th grade. With a rich history dating back to its beginnings as a neighborhood preschool at Grace Episcopal Church, St. Nicholas has grown into a thriving learning community known for its small class sizes, inquiry-based curriculum, and commitment to whole-child development.
At St. Nicholas, learning is joyful, meaningful, and rooted in exploration. Our programs emphasize academic excellence, hands-on discovery, and character development, preparing students for a lifetime of success.
Why Families Love St. Nicholas
Inquiry-Based Curriculum
We value hands-on learning that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration across all core subjects.
Small Class Sizes
Personalized attention allows every child to be truly seen and supported. That's why we have an 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio.
Outdoor Learning Spaces
Our campus features trails, gardens, a pool, and multiple playgrounds extend learning beyond the walls.
Chapel Every Morning
Rooted in our Episcopal identity, each day begins with a short, inclusive chapel service that centers students in love, reflection, and a shared sense of community.
