Lower Primary Accelerated Reader Program

AR (Accelerated Reader) in Lower Primary

If you have a book your child has read at home and you would like them to take an AR quiz on it, just send the book in and we will help your child determine if it has a test available for them to take. You may wish to learn if a book is AR before your child brings it in. If so, please follow these instructions in making that determination:

1.  Go to www.arbookfind.com.
2. Choose parent.
3. Go to Quick Search.
4. Search the book title (you can also search a series title and scroll down to the specific book title).
5. If you look to the left it tells you the reading levels within that series, as well as topic categories.

There is also an advanced Search (tab at top):

1.  Type in your child's reading range and choose the child's interest.
2. You can also refine your search on the left according to Fiction or Non-Fiction interests.
3. The beauty of this search is finding books on a higher reading range while matching their interest level.

There are so many other ways to sort through the AR book options; maybe take a few minutes to explore the website and let us know if we can assist you in any way.

Keep in mind that it is a rule for both Level 3 and 4 students that all non-chapter books are to be read twice. Some students like to read a book once at home and then again at school, taking the AR quiz first thing in the morning. Having already looked up the quiz number (following the instructions above) will save them one step as they come in to take the test. They often have the time during conversation before chapel and can always make time during core Language Arts time.
